My HSP mentor, Alane Freund, says the highly sensitive people are MORE resilient that non-HS people because they are more self aware and capable of adapting to their environment and bouncing back from change.

And of the 4 main qualities of an HSP - depth of processing, overstimulation/overarousal, high empathy, and sensitive nervous system, overarousal is the only “challenge” and the rest are all positives.

So having tools to manage the overarousal is the only task for an HSP. And then you become a true live superhero!

In ancient times, HSPs, were the top of food chain, the highly revered shamans and spiritual leaders. People respected them, asked for their guidance.

Our society now does not value spiritual wisdom as much anymore and instead values “toughness”, “power”, “dominance”.

But HSP when they have a skilled environment and tools to take care of their nervous system are truly the most powerful people there are!!

Recently, my client, K and I were rewiring a momen

Recently, my client, K and I were rewiring a moment when she lost her cool on her kids. When we finished, she said to me “Oh my God, I’m NOT an angry person! I am just being triggered.”

Before we started working together, she was believed that she was weak, reactive, and too sensitive.

But the more we uncovered from her childhood, she realized NONE of these things are true.

She is NOT angry, weak or too sensitive. She was just wired to adapt as a kid by giving in to her parents.

She never felt heard as a child, and so now, she's being triggered when her kids don't listen to her. That's all.

In reality she is powerful, strong. Her light, her vibrancy, was just taken from her in her childhood.

But once we rewired that programming and worked to help her feel more powerful, she was able to see how she still is that vibrant, fun person she truly was, and working with her kids became so much easier and more in line with how she truly wants to be as a mom.

When you are sensitive, it might have been easier for you to just be a chameleon as a child.

Sensitive people are so adaptable. They sense what they need to do to keep the peace, they give up their light and voice so that they can feel less anxious, and not upset others.

But as a parent, that can get in the way of you working with your kids in the way you want to.

So it is critical to separate what you are doing when you get triggered with who you really are, because that is NOT who you are.

And then once you rewire that programming, more emotionally separate from your child’s emotions, which helps you to work with them more easily.
